Boardmasters lit up at sunset, Newquay, Cornwall UK. Oil on 100cm x 40cm stretched canvas framed in a black wooden floating frame. This original oil is painted from a reference picture from a camping trip during August 2023. The campsite overlooked Watergate Bay and Newquay with stunning views. My stay coincided with the Boardmasters music and surfing festival. The music from the festival could be heard from my campsite and I sat and listened to Liam Gallagher singing Champagne Supernova. £1,125.00 To purchase contact the Art Box gallery, Boughton, Chester. ✉️ sales@artboxchester.co.uk

This 16” x 16” oil painting on canvas captures one of Chester’s most striking architectural landmarks—the Boughton Water Tower, designed by Bateman for the Chester Waterworks and constructed between 1851 and 1853. A Grade II listed building, this tower has become more than just a subject to me—it feels like a companion. I’ve worked nearby for the past 25 years, and its solid presence has become a comforting constant in my daily life. My artistic style embraces a vibrant palette, breathing colour and life into the historic brickwork of this late 19th-century structure. The building’s character is interpreted through bold strokes and rich hues, drawing attention to the overlooked beauty in industrial architecture. This painting is part of a triptych celebrating Chester’s architectural heritage from the late 1800s. Through this series, I aim to express my deep connection to these enduring structures and to share the sense of place and memory they hold for me.
